On-demand instead of in stock

Juliet 1496 develops its designs in Germany and works with Printful, among others, for manufacturing and shipping. Many of our products are only printed, embroidered, or made after an order is received.

This process is called print-on-demand or on-demand production. Unlike traditional pre-production, this means we don't have to produce and store large quantities of finished items without knowing if they will actually be ordered.

Less unnecessary inventory

In the fashion industry, overproduction and unsold inventory can lead to unnecessary use of materials, energy, and transport capacity. By manufacturing on demand, we aim to reduce this risk.

However, this does not mean that every on-demand product is automatically sustainable or climate-friendly. This production method also requires raw materials, energy, packaging, and transport. The actual environmental impact of an individual product depends on factors such as material, production location, shipping route, lifespan, and care.

Therefore, we deliberately refrain from making sweeping statements such as "climate-neutral," "environmentally friendly," or "sustainably produced" unless these can be demonstrably proven for the respective product.

Production with Printful

Printful supports Juliet 1496 as a production and fulfillment partner. Depending on the ordered product, delivery destination, availability of goods, and available capacities, manufacturing or finishing can take place at different international locations.

A regionally favorable production location can shorten transport routes. However, manufacturing in the immediate vicinity of the customer cannot be guaranteed for every order.

The origin of the base product is also not automatically identical to the subsequent printing, embroidery, or shipping location. More precise available information on origin and production is therefore listed on the respective product pages.

Our approach

With on-demand production, we pursue a pragmatic approach:

• Manufacturing or finishing only after an order has been placed

• Lower risk of unnecessary overproduction

• No large inventories of finished collections

• More transparent information on materials and care

• Information on origin and production, where available

• Deliberate avoidance of unsubstantiated environmental promises

This approach is not a perfect climate protection model. However, for us, it is a way to operate more on demand and avoid unnecessarily pre-produced goods.

Enjoy the product longer

How an item of clothing is handled also affects its lifespan. Choosing the right size, proper care, and conscious use can help a product be worn for longer.

On our product pages, you will therefore find information on fit, size selection, material, and care. Many textiles can be preserved by washing them at low temperatures, air-drying them, and cleaning them only as often as necessary. The specific care instructions for each product always remain crucial.

Order consciously

Since our items are predominantly produced or finished only after an order is received, we ask you to carefully check the product description and size chart before purchasing.

A conscious selection can avoid unnecessary returns. Your statutory right of withdrawal and other existing consumer rights remain unaffected, of course.

Transparency instead of perfect promises

We do not claim to have already solved all the ecological challenges of fashion production. Our goal is to explain in a comprehensible way how our products are made, what role Juliet 1496 plays, and which partners we work with.

On-demand production can reduce unnecessary inventory and overproduction. However, it does not automatically make a product climate-neutral. That's why we rely on transparent information instead of far-reaching environmental promises.

For apparel orders shipped from Printful's in-house facilities, Printful uses packaging made from post-consumer recycled plastic. According to Printful, outer shipping bags worldwide contain at least 70% PCR plastic. The specific packaging may vary depending on the product and shipping location.

Depending on the product and printing process, Printful uses different printing inks. For DTG printing, Printful states that water-based and certified inks are used.

Only appropriately labeled apparel products from Printful's dedicated collection consist of at least 70% organic or recycled materials. To verify material proportions, Printful states that it requires certificates from independent third parties, including GOTS, OCS, GRS, or RCS.

Some fabrics and raw products in the Printful catalog are OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified. Whether such a certification exists for a specific item is indicated product-specifically.

Printful states that approximately 86% of its orders are delivered within the same region in which they were fulfilled. However, regional processing cannot be guaranteed for every single Juliet 1496 order.
